Objective of Research
I’ve chosen Michael Jackson as my topic of research because he is a very unique and interesting person to discuss about. It is amazing to see him being able to motivate and inspire people from all over the world through the lyrics of his songs. For instance, “Black and White” is a song to promote world peace and it tells people to be anti-racists. “If you want to be my Brother it doesn't matter if you’re Black or White... If you want to be my Baby it doesn't matter if you’re Black or White”. The lyrics basically refer to the people of different races. He is trying to tell people that everyone from different races is equal and they all have the same rights. “Earth Song” on the other hand is about what we, as human beings had done to the earth, he reminded us that we are being selfish and irresponsible towards mother earth and other unlucky people living on this earth - “Torn apart by creed, what about the common man? Can't we set him free? What about children dying? Where did we go wrong? Someone tell me why. What about baby boys? What about the days? What about all their joy? … What about death again?”. This song actually allows us to evaluate on our actions, it is like a wake-up call to us human beings and it makes us realized what we’ve done to the world.
Michael Jackson had also influence people in the aspect of his very own fashion and his unique sense of style. Many of his fans imitate the way he dressed, such as armbands, military inspired jackets, sequined gloves, white socks, aviator specs and so on so forth. Other than that, he has also inspired many of the artists of today, such as Whitney Houston, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Black-Eyed Peas, Chris Brown and even Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber claimed that he wants to influence wide variety of people like Michael Jackson did. Michael Jackson had obviously become more or less their role model and he had inspired them to achieve the impossible.
