My Proposal. (Amelia)

Title : Women empowerment is very common in many different fields in this era. The empowerment of women happens in reality, when women achieve increased control and participation in decision making that leads to their better access to resources, and therefore, improved socio-economic status.

Problem Statement : Does The Oprah Winfrey Show have impact on women in America?

Background Research : Born an illegitimate child into poverty and other struggles in her early childhood such as being molested and raped made Oprah Winfrey compassionate to strive to change the future of other victims and also to raise awareness of other current issues through her self-titled day-time talk show. The Oprah Winfrey Show started in 1986 and is still being aired till today. Oprah inspires women through her shows in many fields, such as relationship, sexual abuse, healthy living, money management and many more. Oprah is able to relate and appeal to audiences because she has gone through stages in life that many of us are going through now. Once in a while, she also invites guest stars to spice up the program.

Aim/objective : To study the way Oprah embodies women empowerment and influences women in America.

Significance : To contribute to the study of women empowerment in our society today.
Research Methodology : Historical and descriptive research
Limitations of research:
i) Historical Research
-Time-consuming
-Resources might be hard to locate
-Resources may be conflicting
-Information might be incorrect or inaccurate
ii) Descriptive Research
-cannot legitimately make cause-effect statements
-results of observational studies are not repeatable, and so there can be no replication of the experiment and reviewing of the results.
